REDCURRANTS

We have a wide selection of redcurrants, please take a look,

Redcurrant Red Lake

Currant, ‘Red Lake’ is the finest red currant with large, deep red berries. It is very strong, vigorous, productive and tasty. It is also the most widely grown red currant with an extended fruiting season! This is a popular high-yield variety on a shrub, that forms a decorative hedge even when not in fruit. ‘Red Lake’ has a long ripening season beginning in late spring and continuing into the summer months. Some of the many uses of the fruit are jam, jelly, syrup, wine and pastry. The red berries also attract many kinds of birds. The Red Lake berries are packed with an intense flavor jelly makers love. The cold hardiest of quality currants, ‘Red Lake’ often bears full-bodied fruit the first year after planting. Yields are reliably large; self-pollinating.

Redcurrant Jonkheer van Tets

Jonkheer van Tets is a well established popular early season redcurrant. Produces heavy crops of large attractive berries on long trusses. Good flavour. Pollination: Jonkheer Van Tets is self-fertile and would produce a good crop in the absence of a pollinator but may benefit from the presence a pollinator.

Redcurrant Laxtons No 1

An old favourite which is a strong growing variety with small, good flavoured fruit and heavy yields. The flowers are produced later than most redcurrants and the branches tend to spread with age.

Redcurrant Junifer

Junifer crops appreciably earlier than Rovada – for redcurrant gluttons and unusually for a redcurrant Junifer will carry fruit on both this and last year’s wood. The fruit is tasty – although the flavour is not as strong as Rovada – but the plants are very high yielding.

Redcurrant Redstart

A late ripening variety which has high yields of large bright red fruits which are formed on long strigs. The fruits have a distinctive acid flavour. Highly recommended for jelly.

Redcurrant Rovada

Very late and exceptionally heavy yielding. Commences to crop early August. Large berries borne on long trusses. Good level of disease resistance. The flavour is good.
